Why go to an open day?
When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.
Where is it located?
SRUC campuses are based in Aberdeen, Ayr, Barony (Dumfries and Galloway), Edinburgh, Elmwood in Fife, and Oatridge to the west of Edinburgh. Specialist horticulture degrees also make use of the botanic gardens in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Scotland is world-renowned and attracts more than 50,000 students globally every year. It has a rich and varied history, from its resistance to Roman invaders in the first century BCE to its independence referendum in 2014. Alongside the mainland, Scotland has almost 800 islands in the Hebrides off its west coast and the North Isles off the north coast. With the world-famous Edinburgh Festival Fringe every summer, pop-up food festivals, and thirteen UNESCO world heritage sites, you'll find plenty to do during your downtime while you study in Scotland.
