What does Student Satisfaction mean?
Student satisfaction is a measure of a student’s opinion of the quality of teaching at a university. It’s not a direct measure of quality and will be influenced by an individual’s conscious and unconscious bias.
How is it calculated?
Student satisfaction is calculated from the answers to the National Student Survey (NSS). The NSS asks undergraduate students in their final year about the quality of teaching and other aspects of their experience at their university.
A university that has a reputation for excellent teaching could get a lower score for student satisfaction as the two don’t necessarily go hand in hand.
