Looking for Clearing advice?
The Clearing concierge has the answers
1. Meaningful international skills
Study Dentistry, and you’ll be employable anywhere in the world. Wherever you are, the way people's mouths work will always be the same.
2. Impressive salary
Average salaries for dentists working within the NHS range from just under £40,000 to over £80,000 a year. Other salaried posts exist in the armed forces and corporate practices. In NHS trust hospitals, dentists are paid according to nationally defined scales. Salaries at consultant level can reach over £100,000 a year. It’s not all about money, but it’s an attractive incentive.
3. Plenty of practical experience
Dentistry degrees allow you to practice at local surgeries, with at least a year (often two years) dedicated to practical work. Not many other disciplines offer such a hands-on approach.
4. Work in the community
As well as honing your own dentistry skills by practising, this course also allows you to hone your social skills. With so much time spent in the local community and getting to know your patients, the work you do at university could be some of the most rewarding of your career.
5. Good graduate prospects
Order our Dentistry subject table by the graduate prospects column, and you’ll see that students enjoy a virtual guarantee of ending up in professional jobs within six months of graduating.
