What as your view of Clearing?

Leading up to A level results day a lot of people were so against going through Clearing and thought it's going to be too stressful. It's an emotional day.

I found out that I was not accepted for my first or second choice before even getting my results.

How did you feel about your results?

It had me panicking, I won't lie to you, it had me panicking. I was scared, I thought I failed my A levels. I didn't know what I was going to do. I didn't know how to tell my parents, so, I just went and got my results and then dealt with it after that. As soon as I got my results, I knew that I’m going to have to go through Clearing.

How was your Clearing experience?

Clearing is much easier and much more of a relaxed process than I thought it would be. I had no clue that all it was going to be was quick phone interviews, I won't even class them as interviews, I just felt like I was speaking to existing students on the phone, or staff members on the phone and they were telling me about the university and I was telling them a bit about myself. I think by 4pm I had around nine different universities that have offered me conditional offers, obviously I had Hull, which ended up being the choice for me.

Are you glad that you went through Clearing?

It turns out it was the best thing I could have done. The moment I thought Hull was the one, oh my gosh I remember it so well it was the first week of university fresher’s week. On the first night I was there, not many of my flatmates had moved in, so I just did something I don't normally do, and I went outside and just looked for people to talk to.

I bumped into two or three people who are now like lifelong friends. The next day I’m sure we had a sports fair. I met more people that I’m still now friends with and joined the football team.

The day after that we had the freshers fair where I was getting free clothes from companies such as ASOS, Amazon and Spotify.

So many companies were giving me free stuff and discount codes and I was getting handed free pizzas by Domino's, I could not believe it, I thought uni is the place to be and I’m living it right now.

I just felt like I was at home if that makes sense, that first week of university showed me that Hull basically became my second home and yeah that whole week, my eyes were just lit up.

That was definitely the time when I felt that okay, this is the one, this is the university for me.
