Shaf’s Clearing experience and advice 

Shaf didn’t get the grades for his first-choice uni so applied through Clearing on A level results day and secured a place at Sheffield Hallam. He shares his experience of going through the process.

My name is Shaf Ahmed, I'm from Cheshire and I study Law at Sheffield Hallam University.

Why did you choose Clearing?

Being completely transparent I didn't actually get the grades to get into my first-choice university and following that I decided to go down another avenue, from there through Clearing I found Sheffield Hallam University, and what I found was the course provided everything that I was looking for with the addition of the applied learning which was definitely quite beneficial to me.

How did you find Clearing?

The process was really straightforward, when I called up Sheffield Hallam, they reassured me and asked me questions surrounding my grades and my personal statement, and following on from that conversation I secured a spot at Sheffield Hallam.

Have you enjoyed your time at university?

I've loved my time at Sheffield Hallam, alongside all the things that the university has to offer on the Law course I'm also very active on the extracurricular side, for example I'm on the university powerlifting and rowing team.

I've also come back from a few Law related trips with the university and finally I recently returned from a two week trip to South Africa and Lethoso where I took part in humanitarian works within the local communities.

What is your Clearing advice?

Going through Clearing might seem daunting at first, but many people have to go through it, it's a process that's very straightforward and all it takes is a phone call and you can receive an offer on the same day.
